Our Building Needs

When the Seven Loaves Soup Kitchen opened in 2007 the 30 dining guests were easily accommodated in the small leased building that is approximate 1,000 square foot.  Today as the number of meals often exceeds 60, the dining space has proven to be inadequate.  Too often a family will come in only to leave without eating due to the lack of available seating.  With the number of guests served daily increasing 100 percent over the past seven years, we are in need of a building that will accommodate seating for one-hundred and twenty guests.

Storage RoomDue to the minimal on-site storage, most of the dry goods are stored off premise and must be inventoried and transported to the Seven Loaves Soup Kitchen daily.  Ideally, our new facility will have a walk-in cooler, walk-in freezer and a thousand square feet of dry storage space.  Thanks to a generous contribution from Tyler Health Partnership FKA Mehoopany Hospital Auxiliary in 2012 we are now the owners of a new walk-in Kold Locker.cropped-Volunteer-13.jpgThe kitchen’s limited space makes it difficult to accommodate all the volunteers needed to prepare, serve and clean up during and after the meal.  Serving Area l10 Safer working conditions and convenient on premise storage are important to our dedicated volunteers. The kitchen area needs to easily accommodate ten volunteers with two large prep areas, two stoves/ovens and several racks and shelving units for storage of cooking utensils and supplies.  A large steam table and serving area needs to be convenient to the kitchen.
